Beach Wedding

It’s Monday and I already miss the beach!  My in-laws have a place in Coronado and I’m so lucky to spend many weekends at the beach.  I see so many beautiful weddings taking place on the Coronado beach and at Hotel del Coronado.  When I come back to work my creative juices flowing to design more beach inspired wedding and bridal shower invitations.   So many of the brides that I work with in San Diego plan their weddings at a beach destination.  How about you?  Check out my beach invitations on www.invitinginvites.etsy.com and on www.invitinginvites.com in my gallery.

Happy Monday!

6 Wedding Dates to Avoid in 2016 and 2017

March 5, 2016 by schazen

030516_DatesToAvoid

When picking out your wedding date, it is a good idea to look at your calendar and note any dates which may be a problem for your budget, your guests and even your venue.  Make sure to ask your venue if there are any other big events happening in town on the weekend that you are planning on getting married.

Here are six wedding dates I suggest avoiding during 2016 and 2017.

  1. Weekends With a Monday Holiday
While you may be able to score a discounted rate from the venue to have your wedding on a Sunday night, since most people have the Monday holiday off, you’ll find that flights and hotel costs skyrocket on these weekends. Keep this in mind when picking one of those weekends, as some guests may have to decline coming because of the extra travel costs.

Memorial Day
Weekend of May 28-30, 2016
Weekend of May 27-29, 2017

Labor Day
Weekend of September 3-5, 2016
Weekend of September 2-4, 2017

Columbus Day
Weekend of October 8-10, 2016
Weekend of October 7-9, 2017

  1. Thanksgiving Time
A wedding during the holidays may seem like a good idea because most people will have time off from work. However for guests that have to travel, the prices for hotels and flying go up during this time.  Plus many of your guests may want to spend the holidays with their family members.

  1. New Year’s Eve
While a New Year’s Eve wedding may seem fun and festive, you may want to be aware of higher prices from venues and vendors.

New Year’s Eve
Saturday, December 31, 2016
Sunday, December 31, 2017

  1. Religious Holidays
Be sure to keep in mind the dates of religious holidays when picking a wedding date. Even if it’s not a holiday you observe, scheduling your wedding during Lent, Passover or Ramadan, for example, may limit guests from coming due to cultural obligations.

  1. Super Bowl Sunday
If you are planning a Sunday wedding or live in Houston, Texas, you may want to avoid having your wedding on Super Bowl weekend. You may also want to avoid dates for other important sporting events like golf tournaments, basketball, etc.

Super Bowl Sunday
February 5, 2017, in Houston, TX

  1. Friday the 13th
If you’re even a little superstitious you may want to avoid this date for your wedding or rehearsal dinner.

Friday the 13th
May 13, 2016
January 13, 2017
October 13, 2017
